For this trip to Nanjing, I deliberately didn't fill my schedule - I stayed at the Grand Metropark Hotel Nanjing located at 319 Zhongshan East Road, which is an old five-star hotel. What really attracted me was not the location (although it is a bonus point to be close to Nanbo and about 200 meters away from Minggongcheng Station), but the recreational facilities on the third floor.
After checking in and putting down my luggage, I headed straight to the fitness center. The equipment is mainly American Lijian. The aerobic zone+strength zone is clear, and the space is not exaggerated but sufficient. There are few people in the morning. When running, you can catch a glimpse of the wutong tree crown from the side window. The hotel information also mentions that the leisure center is equipped with snooker, rooftop tennis courts, table tennis, exercise rooms, etc., and is open to guests for free. If there is ample time, it can be gradually unlocked.
The one that really made me stay the longest was the circular indoor temperature controlled swimming pool - the water temperature was about 28 ℃, the water depth was 1.1-1.6 meters, the transparent dome filtered natural light in, and the afternoon slanting sun hit the water surface, giving a relaxed feeling that was not very "Nanjing". The water quality is visually clean, and the seats and towels on the shore are replenished in a timely manner. After swimming, sitting by the pool for a while is more relaxing than going to a spa specifically. In the guest reviews, it is repeatedly mentioned that the circular swimming pool has clean water quality and taking the kids to soak in it every day, which seems to be the recognized memory points of this restaurant.
After taking a shower in my room, I went around to the lobby bar and flipped through two pages of a book. The set of miniature models of German made small trains in the lobby is said to be one of only three sets in the country. Coupled with the Nanbo Cultural and Creative Sales Corner, it is not boring when waiting for friends. In the evening, I made an appointment for a hotel SPA. The environment was private, the techniques were conventional, and the advantage was that there was no need to leave the building and the reservation was flexible. It was suitable for dividing "city wandering" and "completely emptying" into two parts.
Before and after dinner, the leisure route can continue to extend: the first floor has a simple meal, the first floor follows the Huaiyang Garden, and the 38th floor has its own positioning in the Purple Gold Pavilion; If you don't want to have dinner, the lobby bar has coffee and a glass of sparkling water after swimming, and the rhythm is just right.
As an old five-star hotel that opened in 1997 and underwent partial renovation in 2018, the leisure hardware of Grand Metropark Hotel Nanjing is not cutting-edge, but the combination of "complete+stable+free for guests" is not common among hotels in the same location in Nanjing. For me, a slow paced wanderer who enjoys exhibitions during the day, swimming in the afternoon, and massages at night, what it provides is not stunning, but a sense of certainty that can be entrusted to my free time - which is even more difficult to replicate than a new hotel. Next time, I estimate that I will still schedule it on the schedule, leaving half a day for the swimming pool and gym.Show more
